Good evening,
As you know, the RFP for 13 additional CCBHC Demo awards came out yesterday. Hooray!
I was speaking with our colleague Josh Rubin at HMA today. He wanted to share the following information with all NYS Council members just as a courtesy.
Please feel free to reach out to me if I can help think this through with you. See the below map as well.

Lauri,
There is a nuance in the CCBHC-D award methodology I wanted to flag for you. In an attempt to ensure CCBHCs are spread across the state, the awards are being made in a way that has significant implications for your members…and should impact their decision about whether to apply or not. I’m attaching a map I made for myself to get my head around the award methodology, which is being done within the Economic Development Regions, but with the county of clinic location hugely important.
Providers in counties that are flagged on the attached map with a star have a great opportunity. The four-point stars have the best opportunity, with the explosion-looking stars close behind them (it only matters in the North Country)…those counties with both a star and an arrow have an even better chance (three bonus points for anyone in a county with an arrow). So, for some counties (like Allegany) there’s a really good chance, while for others (like Clinton), the shot is a very long one…even if they write a stellar application. I wanted to flag this for you as I imagine your members are likely to reach out, and you may want to help them handicap…and/or you may want to reach out to your members who are in certain counties to encourage them to consider an application.
Happy, of course, to hop on a call to explain if that’s helpful.
