SUMMARY:Advancing Behavioral Health Equity: Integration of the National CLAS Standards in Service Delivery
DESCRIPTION:The intent of the National Culturally and Linguistically Appropriate Standards (NCLAS) is to improve the quality of care\, help eliminate health care disparities\, and advance health equity by establishing a blueprint for health and healthcare organizations to implement culturally and linguistically appropriate services. \nMore than two decades after the release of the original CLAS Standards\, and eight years since the enhanced National CLAS Standards were published\, there is still much work to be done. Racial/ethnic disparities in health and health care remain a public health challenge\, despite advances in health care technology and new delivery systems\, and even when factors such as health insurance coverage\, income\, and educational level are taken into consideration. \nBy providing standards and specific action steps to implement culturally and linguistically appropriate services\, the enhanced NCLAS can improve an organization’s ability to address behavioral health care disparities. \nCome inform your service delivery\, agency approach and improve clinical outcomes by: \n–       Expanding and deepening your understanding of the NCLAS \n–       Discovering ways to improve access to care\, promote quality and reduce disparities \n–       Learning about resources to further implement these in your work \nFacilitated by Dr. Suganya Sockalingam & Scott van Loo\, this webinar will provide a foundational understanding of the NCLAS and its three themes: \n–       Governance and Leadership \n–       Communication and Language Assistance \n–       Accountability\, Quality Improvement and Community Engagement \nHosted in collaboration with the Pacific Southwest MHTTC.
