DESCRIPTION:Article 9 of the NYS Mental Hygiene Law is a foundational part of the state’s behavioral health safety net. It contains the laws governing the involuntary removal from the community and hospitalization of persons who may\, as a result of their mental illness\, pose a risk of harm to themselves or others.
