Slides from Scope of Practice Webinar

May 9, 2024

I attended the SED Scope of Practice webinar today.  I want you to know that I weighed in repeatedly with OMH leads regarding our disappointment that the Webinar was (in my opinion) quite different from what was advertised and (more importantly) not what the majority of us needed.  I also made it clear to all of the speakers that while we understand the mandate at SED is to ‘protect the public’ the Department should consider whether delaying access to care as the result of the numerous hoops and potholes that need to be cleared by our staff along the way to full employment along with the significant scope of practice limitations now in place is antithetical to the reality of protecting the public.   In my mind, protecting the public requires regulators to be flexible, to understand what’s happening on the ground, and to find ways to modernize these processes with the goal of opening up access to services and protecting continuity of care.  Just my two cents.

Having said this, we captured screen shots of the majority of slides presented today and want you to have access to them right now.  Below are some of the slides from today’s Scope of Practice Webinar with OASAS, OMH, and SED.
