- HHS renewed the national COVID public health emergency (PHE). The 90-day designation means the public health emergency will last until mid-July. This could be the final extension of the PHE, as Republican lawmakers in Washington continue to push to end the emergency. HHS has repeatedly said it will give states a 60-day notice before removing the designation, which has allowed for many policy flexibilities for hospital and community-based providers. – April 13, 2022
