NYS Council members,
As we predicted, the Senate just passed our OMIG Audit Reform bill. We are now doubling down ON our efforts to compel the Assembly to do the same.
ACTION REQUESTED: The Assembly bill is sitting in the Assembly Ways & Means Committee. It needs to be voted out of the committee and slated for a full house vote within the next 4 days.
Are you represented by a lawmaker on the list (below)? If so PLEASE take the time tomorrow morning to call the Assembly switchboard and ask to be connected with your lawmaker’s office. When you reach someone in the office, please state that you are a constituent and you are urgently requesting that your representative go to the Chair of the Assembly Ways & Means Committee (Helene Weinstein) and the Assembly Speaker (Carl Heastie) and tell them they must move the OMIG Audit Reform bill, A6813-C through the Ways & Means Committee and on to the Assembly calendar for a full house vote before the end of session. Please note for the person you are speaking with that the bill was recently amended and the new effective date is almost two years out, giving the state plenty of time to adjust and plan accordingly.
Below are majority members of the Assembly Ways and Means Committee we need to drive calls to tomorrow morning (switchboard 518-455-4100). If you have questions about this request for advocacy, please do not hesitate to contact me at 518 461-8200.
PLEASE HELP US MOVE THE BILL!
Thank you in advance for your advocacy tomorrow morning!
