Amended Bills: Licensing Issues

As we had hoped, both Assemblyperson Bronson and Senator Brouk are attempting to move legislation that would address some of the remaining issues we have with the coming sunset of the exemption for our workforce from having to comply with the Licensing Laws of 2003, 2010 and most recently Part Y of the Laws of 2018 (SED).  Take a look at the bill language here:

Thank you for your grassroots efforts to compel lawmakers to include this language in their deliberations.

Ideally we would like the language we attached to our last Advocacy Alert to members on this issue to be included in the coming state budget deal.  Short of this, we could try to get it done via stand alone legislation to be taken up during the second half of the legislative session (as discussed above).  Another option is to seek another / permanent  extension of the exemption that covers our workforce.  There are membership associations that have already decided to seek an extension of the exemption but we see no downside to continuing our efforts to try and get these issues resolved once and for all – now.
