According to numerous sources Speaker Heastie sent an announcement via email to Assembly members that Assemblymember Gary Pretlow  (D) has been chosen to be the new chair of the Assembly Ways & Means Committee. He will be replacing longtime Assemblymember Helene Weinstein as chair, she is retiring at the end of the year.

Assemblymember Pretlow has been a member of the New York State Assembly since 1992 and represents the 89th Assembly District. He is the current chair of the Racing and Wagering Committee. For more information about the Assemblymember please click here.
