Bills to Repeal LMSW Exam Requirement

October 23, 2023

Several weeks ago we informed NYS Council members of a bill that (if enacted) would repeal a section of Education Law that requires applicants to pass a written examination in order to qualify as a licensed master social worker (LMSW).  The ‘same as’ bills are sponsored by Assemblywoman Gonzalez-Rojas (A5291) and by Senator Samra Brouck (S5975).

We’d like to know your thoughts about this legislation so we can represent your viewpoints on the matter.  Please tune in to our upcoming Thursday morning NYS Council Member Support and Public Policy call (10/26/23) beginning at 9:15 so we can discuss the legislation and form a position.
Thank you!
