Business Interruption Bill Introduced
April 23, 2020
We are pleased to report that Assemblywoman Linda B. Rosenthal, Chair, Assembly Committee on Alcoholism and Drug Abuse has graciously agreed to sponsor a bill we have been discussing with her that furthers our efforts to secure reimbursement for your lost revenue as result of the COVID-19 epidemic.
This issue was brought to us over a month ago by several providers on Long Island who told us they had spoken with their Property & Casualty broker/insurer about their Business Interruption coverage and they were advised the coverage was unlikely to replace their losses.
We have felt from the beginning that the Department of Financial Services (regulates insurers) should require its’ insurers to pay on these claims. As such we are pursuing a remedy and we need your assistance.
The following bill was introduced on April 22 at the request of the NYS Council. We are deeply grateful to Assemblymember Linda B. Rosenthal for sponsoring this legislation and for always having the backs of New York’s community-based substance use disorder and mental health organizations!
Please call me or send me a note if you have already filed a claim under your Business Interruption coverage or if you PLAN to do so shortly. Thanks! Lauri 518 461-8200
