The NYS Department of Health (DOH) is working on implementing a “carve-out” of the Medicaid pharmacy benefit from Medicaid Managed Care. This means they are working on moving the pharmacy benefit back to fee-for-service Medicaid. This is slated to take effect April 1st, 2023. This will impact how people enrolled in Medicaid will access their prescriptions.
DOH held a stakeholder webinar yesterday to review their plans for implementing this change. The DOH website dedicated to this transition is linked here.
