Clarification re: SAMHSA CCBHC Expansion Grants

May 18, 2021

I misunderstood what I heard during a National Council call earlier today (as described in previous email below).

It’s not that there is a new round of CCBHC Expansion Grant money coming out via funding request by the end of the month.  Instead it is that the decisions from SAMSHA as to which organizations are going to receive funds from the last round of grants (March 1) will be out by end of this month, according to the National Council.

Wishful thinking on my part.

We’ve gotten word that, unless something unforeseen occurs, SAMHSA intends to announce another (new) round of CCBHC Expansion Grants for RFP.  National Council policy folks are stating the announcement of the new round of funding is coming before the end of May, 2021.

If you have been thinking about submitting an application when the next round of funding is released, now would be a good time to start thinking about things like whether you intend to line uo a consultant to at least assist you with the application submission process.  I’ve also seen some agencies use in-house experts to work on the application, get a draft together and then allow an outside consultant to critique or ‘score’ the application and make suggestions for improving it.

Again, a new round of funding is likely to be announced before month’s end. We wanted you to have some lead time to prepare.
