New York state has agreed to bolster delivery of mental health services for children insured through Medicaid, under a court settlement announced yesterday, Gothamist reports. (Caroline Lewis for The Gothamist)
This case has been in the works for more than a few years now. Recently we learned the class action lawsuit had been settled. Apparently the parties are still negotiating terms of the agreement.
The lawyers at Children’s Rights were/are phenomenal. I had a lot of contact with them as they were gathering information from experts who best understand access to care challenges facing the individuals and families our members serve. This is good news for New York’s children (and their families) who need and deserve on demand access to a wide range of services (beginning with HCBS services) through the NYS children’s mental health system.
