Congress Passes Stopgap Funding through 12/20

September 26, 2024

Congress has passed a Continuing Resolution (CR) that provides stopgap funding through December 20th, avoiding a potential shutdown ahead of the FY24 funding deadline at the end of this month. This CR contains only a few additional policy riders, including extensions for health-related items, such as programs for autism, and veterans’ programs, such as for housing support and integrative health.

Looking forward, lawmakers will need to continue negotiations on a final funding deal, and the outcomes of the November elections will likely have a significant impact on the Lame Duck session of Congress and the path towards finalizing FY25 appropriations.
