| New York State is undergoing a major transformation in how older adults, people with disabilities, and other low-income Medicare beneficiaries apply for and renew certain Medicaid benefits. New York State is implementing Medicaid Eligibility and Client Management (MECM), a new online system designed to modernize and streamline enrollment in select Medicaid programs, including the Medicare Savings Program. Despite significant federal cuts and eligibility changes to Medicaid under H.R. 1, New York is moving forward with this long-planned multi-year initiative, moving toward faster eligibility determinations and automated renewals.
Join the New York Health Foundation (NYHealth) and the Medicare Rights Center for a timely webinar on MECM and what the transition means for New Yorkers who rely on Medicaid and Medicare Savings Program benefits. Speakers will provide an overview of MECM; its implementation to date and continued gradual phased rollout plan; next stages of implementation; and what advocates, providers, and community-based organizations should know to help eligible New Yorkers access and navigate the new system. The conversation will also address important consumer protections; resources available to individuals who need assistance; and how community partners can provide input and ask questions.
