Dear Health Advocates,
I am sharing a new opportunity to join Families USA on a sign-on letter to Senate leadership in defense of Medicaid.
This letter urges Senate leadership to not take up the House-passed budget resolution, and instead commit to protect and defend Medicaid against damaging cuts laid out in the bill.
As you may know, the House proposal mandates a minimum of $2 trillion in cuts, including hundreds of billions of dollars from the House Energy and Commerce Committee, which oversees Medicaid. As the recent analysis from the nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office clarified, the budget framework that House Republicans voted for would force deep cuts to Medicaid. These cuts will rip health care away from millions of people, including children, veterans, people with disabilities, and working families.
We know that no matter how these cuts are framed, the end result will mean not only a loss of coverage and essential lifesaving services—it will also mean massive state budget shortfalls, hospitals and clinics losing paying patients and reducing services, and American families and workers left unable to afford care. We must send a clear message to the Senate to not take a wrecking ball to our health care system and local economies.
You can read the full letter here, and to sign on, please fill out this form by EOD Thursday, March 20.
