Additional Note: During Hill Day, the National Council held a virtual substance use advocacy event that focused on three main asks for curbing the nation’s substance use crisis: 1) expanding access to medicated assisted treatment (MAT) for opioid use disorder (OUD), 2) strengthening prescriber education on substance use disorders (SUD), and 3) enrolling people who are incarcerated into Medicaid as soon as possible to ensure community-based care for the substance use and/or mental health treatment needs.
