We wanted to let you know that the Medicaid Reentry Act (“ALLOWING FOR MEDICAL ASSISTANCE UNDER MEDICAID FOR INMATES DURING 30-DAY PERIOD PRECEDING RELEASE”) has been added to the budget legislation to be marked up by the House Energy and Commerce Committee next week.
Energy and Commerce Chair Frank Pallone (D-NJ) announced that the “Build Back Better Act” would be considered by the Committee on September 13 and released legislative language containing the Medicaid Reenty Act. See page 79 (of 80) in the attached and at this link – energycommerce.house.gov/sites/…
The Medicaid Reentry Act, sponsored by Representative Paul Tonko (D-NY) and Senator Tammy Baldwin (D-WI) and others has been a priority for mental health and substance use providers across the country. We will keep you updated on the progress of this legislation as the budget process moves forward into the fall.
