Last night I received an invitation from the Governor’s Office, and specifically from Angela Profeta, Deputy Secretary for Health, inviting me to a briefing later this morning regarding a new entity, The Future of Healthcare Commission.
Governor Hochul first discussed her plan to charge a new commission during her State of the State address. As you know, under Governor Cuomo, the Medicaid Redesign Team (MRT) was commissioned to address Medicaid spending, and reform our healthcare system. Notably, the MRT was the entity that approved a proposal that led to the carve-in of behavioral health services to Medicaid managed care.
