ADVOCACY DAY AND ANNUAL BUSINESS MEETING
NYS Council members are strongly encouraged to come to Albany on February 4-5 to attend our 2020 Advocacy Day and Annual Business Meeting. The executive budget proposal is due to be released during the third week of January making early visits with lawmakers that much more impactful!
We’ve made the logistics as easy as possible and NYS Council staff will remain available to help make arrangements so you can attend these meetings and make the most of your visits with lawmakers.
Here’s what you need to know:
  • Day 1 – Feb 4: NYS Council Business Meeting at The Renaissance Hotel from 1:00 – 5:00 p.m. Invited speakers include:
  • Brett Friedman, who recently joined the state Department of Health’s Office of Health Insurance Programs as Director of Strategic Initiatives, focusing on Medicaid initiatives. We look forward to introducing Mr. Friedman to our members and engaging him in conversation to share our insights and ideas, as well as our concerns, for the future of the individuals we serve each day.
  • Madhuri Kommareddi, Director of Workforce Development in the Governor’s Office, to address our members, receive our comments, and hear our serious concerns regarding workforce shortages.
  • Robert Kent, General Counsel from OASAS to join us for a wide ranging conversation including the future of OASAS Net Deficit Funding; next steps in OASAS’ continuing efforts to protect and improve access to and continuity of care for all New Yorkers; and Part 819 & 820 Residential Reform.
  • Day 2 – Feb 5: NYS Council Advocacy Day, begins at 8:30 a.m. sharp with a brief session for attendees (at The Renaissance Hotel) where we will fully prep you for the legislative meetings and provide policy documents you will need to guide discussions and leave behind with lawmakers.
