The Health Plan Association (HPA) is out in force, opposing the Governor’s proposal to utilize a Competitive Bid process to identify MCOs that will participate in carve-in’s of services provided to many special needs populations. See attached doc for HPA’s written testimony prepared for today’s Health Budget hearing.
On January 28, the NYS Council hosted a meeting that brought together our association colleagues who represent a variety of primary care and behavioral health providers. While some progress was made towards identifying a group of associations that will work together to support the Competitive Bid proposal, more than a few attendees were non-committal about their position on the issue. We need an army of concerned New Yorkers that will work hard to support the proposal requiring NY to use a competitive bid process to identify MCOs. Later this week, we will roll out a plan to intensify advocacy in support of this proposal, and we will count on all members, staff and care recipients to weigh in with lawmakers early and often on this matter.
