August 12, 2025
We are excited to announce that the New York State Council will be serving as a State Captain for New York at the National Council for Mental Wellbeing’s 2025 Hill Day, taking place October 7–8, 2025, in Washington, D.C.
Hill Day is a unique opportunity to raise our collective voice on behalf of community behavioral health providers and the individuals and families we serve. Together with hundreds of advocates from across the country, we will meet with members of Congress and their staff to educate them about the urgent needs of our sector to include the impacts of HR1 – the so called “One Big Beautiful bill’ on New Yorkers, to protect federal resources that fund so much of our OASAS and OMH systems of care, and to advocate for federal policies that strengthen mental health and substance use disorder services.
Our Role:
As we have done in the past, the NYS Council will provide leadership, guidance, and coordination for our state’s delegation. We will assist members in preparing for visits and ensure that New York’s priorities are well represented.
What You Need to Do Now:
- Check your calendar – Please determine as soon as possible if you or colleagues from your agency can attend. Here’s a quick look at the events you may want to participate in:
Tuesday, October 7: Public Policy Institute (Omni Shoreham Hotel) + National Council Reception (space will limited for the Public Policy Institute to 400 registrants)
Wednesday, October 8: Hill Meetings (Capitol Hill)
- Register and book your hotel – Space for the Public Policy Institute is limited; early action is strongly recommended. Register here: Hill Day Registration Link. Please note that attendees are responsible for their own travel and hotel; however, hotel rooms at the Omni Shoreham Hotel can be booked at a discounted group rate once you’ve registered for Hill Day. Group transportation between the hotel and Capitol Hill will be offered at set times.
We will follow up with details on meetings scheduled, group coordination, and preparing for the meetings, etc. as we get closer to the event.
Additional details about Hill Day can be found on the National Council’s website: Hill Day Website.
Please reach out to Cindy Levernois at cindy@nyscouncil.org with any questions.
Your participation in the National Council’s 2025 Hill Day ensures that New York’s voice continues to be heard loud and clear on The Hill in Washington. We hope you can join us for this important advocacy opportunity.
