National Council 2025 Hill Day – Will you be there?

September 4, 2025

On October 7–8, 2025, in Washington, D.C., the NYS Council will be serving as the State Captain for New York at the National Council for Mental Wellbeing’s 2025 Hill Day.

Hill Day is a unique opportunity to raise our collective voice on behalf of community behavioral health providers and the individuals and families we serve. Together with hundreds of advocates from across the country, we will meet with members of Congress and their staff to educate them about the urgent needs of our sector to include the impacts of HR1 – the so called “One Big Beautiful Bill’ on New Yorkers, to protect federal resources that fund so much of our OASAS and OMH systems of care, and to advocate for federal policies that strengthen mental health and substance use disorder services.

If you haven’t already, please consider registering to attend this important event. Here is the schedule for Hill Day:

  • Tuesday, October 7: Public Policy Institute and National Council Reception

During this day-long event, the National Council and Hill Day Partners will provide the latest news about federal behavioral health policy, host advocacy trainings, and brief attendees on the policy asks for Hill Day 2025.

  • Wednesday, October 8: Hill Meetings on Capitol Hill

The day begins with a breakfast meeting for all Hill Day participants to gather and discuss the meeting times and logistics for the day. This is followed by the Capitol Hill Visits.

To register, please click here: Hill Day Registration Link. Please note that attendees are responsible for their own travel and hotel; however, hotel rooms at the Omni Shoreham Hotel can be booked at a discounted group rate once you’ve registered for Hill Day. Group transportation between the hotel and Capitol Hill will be offered at set times.

As the State Captain, the NYS Council will provide leadership, guidance, and coordination for our state’s delegation. We will assist members in preparing for visits and ensure that New York’s priorities are well represented. We will follow up with additional details on meetings scheduled, group coordination, and preparing for the meetings.
