Now Available: Resources for the OMH/OASAS/SED Joint Presentation on Diagnostic Privileges Webinar

October 4, 2024

Here’s the recording and slide deck associated with the 10/2 Scope of Practice/Diagnostic Privilege Webinar co-hosted by OMH, OASAS and SED earlier this week.

One of the outstanding issues we had after the Webinar was (generally) the question of how many supervisees a qualified supervisor can oversee (supervise) at one time.  While the good news is that a supervisor can supervise more than 5 employees total, the cap is still 5 for the number of Limited Permit practitioners a supervisor can supervise at any given time.  For more on this please see slide #22 re: how to count and who to count as Limited Permit staff for purposes of complying with this specific requirement.

On 10/2, OMH and OASAS collaborated with NYSED Office of Professions and MCTAC to host a presentation on Diagnostic Privilege. This presentation provided an overview of diagnostic privilege, reviewed common questions received from individuals and programs regarding diagnostic privilege, detailed  how to access pertinent information, and provided scenarios of how this applies to the activities in OMH and/or OASAS settings. Please note, this presentation focused on OMH and/or OASAS providers only. Private practices and/or other service settings were not covered in this presentation.
