Late on Tuesday, January 18, 2022, Governor Kathy Hochul released her first Executive Budget- for SFY 2022-23.  The Governor’s plan proposes to spend over $216 billion in the fiscal year that begins April 1, 2022, up from the $212 billion budget for the current fiscal year.  In announcing her budget, the Governor and her Budget Director Robert Mujica mentioned the higher than expected tax revenue and significant federal pandemic aid and promised balanced budgets for the next five years.  They also mentioned their plan to set aside $16 billion over the next five years so that the state can be well prepared for the next recession or pandemic.
