OASAS Update on COVID-19 Community Levels & COVID-19
Community Transmission Level Tracking

May 12, 2023

Per the CDC website: “As of May 11, 2023, the end of the federal public health emergency, COVID-19 Community Levels (CCLs) and COVID-19 Community Transmission Levels are no longer calculatable; associated visualizations have been removed from COVID Data Tracker. The “COVID-19 Integrated County View” tab has been renamed “COVID-19 Vaccinations by County.” County-level hospitalization data will be available at COVID-19 Hospitalizations, Deaths, and Emergency visits by Geographic Area.

The last update to this page will be made on May 11, 2023. On June 15, 2023, this page will be removed from COVID Data Tracker, and a new page displaying updated vaccination data will be available. National and state level data will continue to be reported at CDC COVID Data Tracker: Vaccine Confidence and COVID VaxView.”

Given the above, OASAS programs are no longer expected to check the CDC website weekly for their county COVID-19 Community Levels or COVID-19 Community Transmission Levels. This is the only current change to the OASAS COVID-19 guidance. We expect providers to continue to follow COVID-19 infection control practices and practice caution with respect to COVID-19 in their communities and facilities. The OASAS COVID-19 guidance documents will be updated shortly to reflect the change indicated above. Any new CDC or NYS DOH guidance will be incorporated into those updates.
