OMH: Adult BH HCBS Updated Workflow 2022

January 17, 2022

The State is issuing revisions to the Adult Behavioral Health Home and Community Based Services (BH HCBS) Guidance for HARP and HIV SNP Members Enrolled in Health Home, intended to improve access for those in need of or interested in BH HCBS. Effective January 2022.

Managed Care Organizations (MCO), Health Homes (HH) and Care Management Agencies (CMA) will follow the updated workflow outlined in the attached revised guidance.

Key changes to the workflow are:

  • Only members who are interested in BH HCBS will need to receive the NYS Eligibility Assessment (NYS EA) to access services.

IMPORTANT: Members actively receiving BH HCBS must be reassessed for eligibility at least annually to ensure there is no disruption in service provision due to lapsed assessments.

  • The 90-Day Timeframe tocomplete the NYS EA (upon HARP/HIVSNP enrollment or HH enrollment, whichever occurred first) is removed.
  • The face-to-face requirement for administering the NYS EA can be met via telehealth.

Questions can be directed to Specialty Mental Health mailbox at SpecialtyMH_HHCM@omh.ny.gov  or submitted to the Health Home BML.
