OMIG and Telehealth Bills on the Move

May 11, 2023

As we discussed this morning during our weekly Member Support and Public Policy call, the NYS Council has been leading a group of associations that are working to secure passage of a new OMIG Audit Reform bill that we worked on with our consulting attorney Linda Clark from Barclay Damon.  Kudos to our government relations consultant Marcy Savage who has been integral in keeping the legislative wheels rolling forward.

As we reported this morning, Assemblywoman Amy Paulin is sponsoring the new OMIG Reform bill (A6813) in the Assembly.  And while we are waiting for Senator Harckham’s bill to include our amendments and go to an ‘A’ print version that is consistent with the Paulin bill, it is on the move and on the Health Committee agenda next week.

The second bill listed below, sponsored by Senator Rivera, would extend telehealth rate parity requirements (pay at same rate as face-to-face rates in Medicaid and commercial) two more years (to April 1, 2026), and address an issue for FQHCs also related to telehealth services.

Both bills discussed (below) are on the Senate Health Committee agenda next week (5/17).  Also, in the document (attached) please find the document Linda Clark reviewed with us this morning during our conversation regarding the new bill, and the ways in which this one differs from the old (vetoed in 12/22) bill.

Bills on the Move:
