NYS Medicaid Inspector General Releases 2024 Work Plan
The New York State Office of the Medicaid Inspector General (OMIG) today released its 2024 Work Plan, which outlines key program-integrity initiatives planned for 2024.

Reflecting OMIG’s commitment to education, engagement and collaboration with Medicaid program stakeholders, the 2024 Work Plan provides a comprehensive roadmap for citizens, policymakers, providers and managed care organizations to follow as a guide for the year’s activities.

As new priorities and projects arise, the Work Plan will be updated. These updates will be posted on the OMIG website, and update alerts will be issued via OMIG’s listserv.

Behavioral Health/Addiction Services and Supports

New York State continues to advance and invest in services and social supports to serve the needs of people living with addiction, mental illness and other complex health care needs. Consistent with program requirements established by the Office of Mental Health (OMH) and the Office of Addiction Services and Supports (OASAS), OMIG will continue to conduct audits in this area to ensure that these populations are appropriately served, that services are rendered properly and documented in accordance with Medicaid rules and regulations. OMIG activities in this area will include:

Our mission is to enhance the integrity of the New York State Medicaid program by preventing and detecting fraudulent, abusive, and wasteful practices within the Medicaid program and recovering improperly expended Medicaid funds while promoting high-quality patient care.
