Sign this Online Petition! Preserve Access to Care!

January 25, 2021

The NYS Council has been working for many years with a broad group of provider associations who want to ensure that, when the exemption for our workforce from having to comply with what we commonly refer to as the ‘Licensing Laws’ actually sunsets, our workforce will be able to meet the (increasing) demand for services at SOMH, OASAS, OCFS or OPWDD community-based organizations.  While our coalition of advocates worked hard in 2018 to address many of the issues that would have had a negative impact on our field. resulting in a new statute (Part Y of the Laws of 2018),  several issues still remain.

Our group has created an online petition that explains what we are up against regarding whether certain LMHCs and LMFTs will be able to continue to perform the task of ‘diagnosis’ after the law sunsets in June 2021.  Please read the petition information and sign it.  We have a fight ahead of us to ensure access to and continuity of care is preserved in the days to come and we need your help!

Here’s a link to our online Petition with a deadline of 2/5: https://www.petitions.net/practitioner_scope_of_practice

Please circulate to your staff and care recipients who want to be part of the solution!

Many thanks for your participation and support!
