RMS Health/Mental Hygiene Executive Budget Update for SFY 2025

Governor Hochul released her $233 billion spending plan for SFY 2025 on Tuesday, providing $1.9 billion for the migrant crisis, an additional $825 million to schools including $500 million in direct aid, and a 10 percent increase in Medicaid spending. The SFY 2025 budget projects to close the $4.3 billion budget gap without any broad-based tax increases or tuition hikes for SUNY and CUNY. Blake Washington, New York’s Budget Director, said he views budget gaps in the coming years from declines in state revenue as manageable in an interview he did on Monday. When making her budget presentation, the Governor emphasized that her budget proposals are focused on public safety, affordability, mental health and improving quality of life for New Yorkers.

Following our review of the Executive Budget bills, we have developed the attached sector-by-sector summary of the Governor’s Health/Mental Hygiene budget proposal for SFY 2025. Upon review, please let us know if you have any questions or if you would like additional details on any of the proposals.

Thank you.
