NYS Council OMIG Audit Reform Bill Advocacy

May 30, 2023

 Good morning,

1.  Attached, please find a group Sign On Letter endorsing A6813/S5329A and requesting that the Legislative Leaders ensure passage of our bill before the end of the session.  A total of 41 organizations representing NYS Medicaid providers and/or the individuals they serve signed the letter, coordinated by the NYS Council, COMPA, CPState and Federation of Mental Health Services.

2.  Attached please find the PowerPoint presentation used by the OMIG leads during the 3 Stakeholder Forums it recently hosted.  The Forums have now concluded.

3.  Also attached, please find brief ‘testimony’ submitted on Thursday, May 25, by the following association leads, in response to the OMIG Forums:

  • Lauri Cole, New York State Council for Community Behavioral Healthcare
  • Allegra Schorr, COMPA

  • Barbara Crosier, Cerebral Palsy Associations of NYS

  • Tracy Schneider, Federation of Mental Health Services

  • Winifred Schiff, InterAgency Council of Developmental Disabilities Agencies

  • Norwig Debye-Saxinger,  Therapeutic Communities Association of New York, Inc.

We received the following response from Bill Schwarz at the Office shortly after submitting our testimony:
“Thank you and the team for providing the testimony. As you know, we are collecting a wealth of recommendations, comments and questions generated via our engagement forums and other conversations.

As Acting Medicaid Inspector Walsh indicated, OMIG is actively reviewing materials, and we are committed  to continuing our outreach and engaging with the provider community to share information, updates on the new regulations and other items of import.  We are moving quickly in this regard.”
